Assyrians Without Borders is working to promote education for Assyrian refugee children in Lebanon. The war in Syria has created many setbacks, not least for Assyrian refugees and their education. The families that fled to Lebanon due to the war have lost almost everything they own and many children are traumatized by their experiences. An education is possibly the only stable and secure element offered in an otherwise foreign country.
School is therefore a safe place for each child’s development. It becomes a place that enables social interaction and integration, as well as somewhere children can be children. Assyrians Without Borders has over the years provided the Taw Meem Simkat (TMS) School in Beirut with a new water station, school uniforms, lunch bags, school supplies, renovated classrooms with new school benches and a new school bus.
