Tack vare de generösa bidrag som samlats in av engagerade givare under året och med ovärderlig hjälp av modiga, lokala volontärer på plats kunde Assyrier Utan Gränser snabbt börja bistå de flyktingar från Hassake som fått fly för sina liv under IS angrepp mot staden.
Var och en av de 500 familjerna emottog två kassar med det allra livsnödvändigaste – en med mat och en med hygienartiklar. De basvaror som distribuerades till flyktingarna – ris, ost, te, barnavårdsartiklar, tvål, tvättmedel mm inköptes på marknader i närområdet, vilket i sig innebär ett viktigt stöd för den lokala ekonomin på plats.
Det är också mycket viktigt att understryka att inköp av förnödenheter och påbörjande av själva utdelningen av nödhjälpen till flyktingarna allt sammantaget inte tog mer än två dagar efter att Assyrier Utan Gränser överfört de nödvändiga medlen för katastrofinsatsen direkt i anslutning till flyktingkrisens början.
Stort tack till våra fantastiska givare som genom kontinuerliga bidrag över året skapat de finansiella förutsättningar som gör det möjligt att direkt agera i ett uppkommet katastrofläge. Det är lika viktigt att fortsätta skänka också när läget är tillfälligt lugnare – så att vi har de finansiella möjligheterna innestående att agera när nödsituationen är ett faktum.

500 families fleeing Hassake received urgent emergency aid thanks to speedy action by Assyrians Without Borders
Thanks to the generous donations contributed by committed donors all along the year and with the invaluable help of brave, local volunteers present at the scene, Assyrians Without Borders was able to quickly take action in support of the those refugees fleeing Hassake for their lives following the IS attack on the city.
Each of the 500 families received two aid kits containing the most vital necessities – one with food and one with hygiene articles. Those basic necessities distributed to the refugees – rice, cheese, tea, child care supplies, soap, detergent and more were bought in local markets, which in itself provides vital support for the local economy.
It is also very important to underline that buying those necessities and starting the actual distribution of the emergency aid, altogether took no more than two days from the transfer by Assyrians Without Borders of the necessary means for this emergency campaign, at the very start of the refugee crisis.
Many thanks to our amazing donors, who through their repeated contributions along the year have created the financial possibilities to take immediate action in the face of disaster that strikes. It is equally important to continue donations when times are occasionally quieter – this is how we make sure to have the financial means necessary when emergency action is required.
